LFW
Spring/Summer 2014
Holly Fulton did not disappoint with her prints and simple silhouettes. Denim looks opened the show and these featured hand-stitched denim flowers embellishing a backless pinafore dress, mid-calf flared denim skirts and cropped jackets. After these denim looks we see Fulton’s signature prints; parma violet latticework, repeating stork motifs and tangerine Orientalist-inspired goldfish appared on chiffon pyjama-style separates, belted knife-pleated maxi dresses and silk trench coats. She used Laura Ashley inspired florals across powder pink silk coats and sundresses. Holly tends to collect items when seeking inspiration for the next collection and she told Ellie Pithers from The Telegraph, “I collected a lot of folk embroidery – that was the start, I got this amazing book called American Denim that kind of kicked off the whole thing. The collection was all hand-stitched, hand-embroidered, inspired by people who made their own things in the Seventies.”
